Ilkeston Shotokan Karate Association Grading June 2026:

Congratulations to all students who passed their grading on Thursday 18th June. Some great performances on the day even though some students were very nervous. Wear your new belts with pride but remember that the hard work starts again now as you train towards your next grade.

Ilkeston Shotokan Karate Club Student of the Month June 2026:

The Student of the Month for June is Chris. Chris is a third Dan Black belt but has really impressed Sensei Kev Lomax over the last few weeks with the great effort he is putting into his training. His Kata knowledge has improved greatly and there is a real increase in his overall standard of Karate. Well done Chris and keep up the excellent work.

​​Ilkeston Shotokan Karate Club New Beginners Class 2026:

There will be a new beginners class starting on Thursdays in July 2026 for all students, male or female, aged 7 years and upwards. No experience is needed to train and the class will run separately to the main class and will be 1 hour long starting at 6.00pm. Sensei Lomax will teach the benefits of Karate for Fitness and Self Defence and training will be free during the month of July. There will be limited places available so if you are interested please call Sensei Lomax on 07306 295977.​

​​Bakersfield Shotokan Karate Club 3rd Dan Award:                       

Huge congratulations to Denis Robinson for achieving his San Dan (3rd Dan) award form Bakersfield Shotokan Karate Club. Despite some serious health issues Denis keeps training and shows incredible spirit and determination. Denis is pictured holding his certificate with Sensei Brent Fletcher, Sensei Kev Lomax (Ilkeston Shotokan Karate Association Chief Instructor) and Sensei Pete Key.

​Congratulations to Sensei Kevin Lomax who has reached the level of 6th Dan. This is an excellent and well deserved achievement and the culmination of over 50 years of training and dedication to the art of Shotokan Karate.
